Google AdWords Get Automated
Google has released a new tool for it’s AdWords ads that attempts to automate the advertising process by providing what is essentially a “wizard” to write campaign text for you.
Called “Ad Text Ideas” it is designed to provide inspiration and ideas to AdWords advertisers by providing “effective words and phrases” to help them write their ad campaigns.
Not a bad idea and I’m sure it will help those who are new to AdWords advertising and struggling to find the “right words” for their ad. I know I’ve spent quite a bit of time occasionally on some AdWords campaigns looking for the right text and this would have been quite useful.
I tried it out for this site for a “Blog Advertising” campaign and this is what it came up with:

I’d like to see the day when a Government advertises with me!! Obviously it’s not designed to make the ad campaign for you, but just to give you ideas.
A good idea, but I think most serious AdWords campaigners will still be writing their own text. There’s just something about the creative Rich Jerk-style ads that a computer will never be able to mimic:
“Your blog sucks! Mine is awesome so you should advertise on mine!”
Somehow I think that would get a few more clicks. You can go to Ad Text Ideas (requires Google account) to try it out for yourself.

Nice tip kumiko! Btw do you think ppc advertising really works?
I don’t! Darren Rowse doesn’t advertise, John Chow does, and i wonder whether john’s advertisements help make him ‘handsome’ money!
by Amit
John’s been doing it for a while. I doubt he’d continue if it didn’t provide a good return. I’m pretty sure most of his advertising is done on specific sites and is quite targeted so he probably receives quite a bit of traffic out of them. And traffic = money!

Naah! John’s advertisements are not site-targeted! Just spend a couple of minutes on some money making websites and you’ll find his ad with the title “Your blog’s a money maker”
by Amit
We’re talking about the guy who started the “I love Darren Rowse” ads. He may use some keyword campaigns but he also definitely uses site-targeted. Why else would Darren block his ads?

And from his last earnings breakdown:
“Blog advertising expenses for the month was $522.14 for SiteMatch Google ads and $326.40 for normal Google ads”
by Princess Kumiko
Corrected!

I like the Rich Jerk ads, I’d be more inclined to click it than a dry google ads.
I have a £30 adwords voucher, I’m planning on spending it on Monty Python quotes.

Good tip indeed, I kind of missed it!

Pretty brutal automated system if you ask me. Just basing this on your examples, but I find very little relevance (from the company with all the relevant results!) in those ads for your site.
The upside (for Google) is that it may help new users buy ads sooner, and help non-English speakers write better ads.
I give it 1/5 on the JoshMeter!
And you shouldn’t sell yourself short Kumiko! The government is very easy to trick!
