UPDATE (27 Feb): It appears some people didn’t get the joke. The above video is for AllAdvantage which was AGLOCO’s predecessor. Some of AllAdvantage’s founding members are also in the team behind AGLOCO. Notice how the video used some of the same slogans and sales pitches that AGLOCO is using now. Also note how AllAdvantage went bankrupt. To make things crystal clear - I do not suddenly support AGLOCO!!!

Hahaha, your evil advocate finally provides a big price. You beat them all with this promotional video of Viewbar. Congratulation, young lady!

I really hope that was a joke.
If so then… haha
If not… O_o’ Ummm…
The whole bash AGLOCO thing may earn some extra traffic and be amusing for awhile, but what happens if (when) AGLOCO does very well?
We are all entitled to our opinion and nobody is sure if AGLOCO will be beneficial for all of its members, but hey, it’s free, why not?
(BTW Nice Blog Kumiko.)

Jason,
Thank you for your kind comments. I am not “bashing” AGLOCO at all. I am simply presenting the situation as I truly see it. My comments may come off as more negative than intended simply because everybody else is praising it (and seeking a referral in the process!). Sometimes I may play ‘devil’s advocate’ but it is simply to present the other side of the story.
If AGLOCO does very well, I’ll be the first the join it - but I’m confident that it won’t be happening.
Also, I don’t believe it’s free at all. You are giving away your information, your screen space and (if you actively seek referrals) your time. It may not cost you anything in terms of cash, but how much is your time worth? If you’re thinking you’re going to make money without referrals, forget it.
But I really hope I’m wrong and that you’re able to make a fortune with it! Best of luck!!!

I too have allready seen that - so its not exactly exclusive. I dont see how it makes AGLOCO look bad, we all know it is made my the alladvantage people and is a very similiar idea that has a few changes. And yes alladvantage did go bust but it did not stop a lot of ‘little guys’ from making money from them.
I know we dont agree on this one… it will be interesting to see how it plays out! - By the way keep up the good work with SlashMySearch.

I’m necessarily saying that it makes AGLOCO look bad - I just found it quite funny that AGLOCO is using the same sales pitches and some of the same slogans as a company that went bust. I’d thought they’d want to separate themselves from AA as much as possible! But on this, I’ll admit that I’m wrong!! Haha!!

That’s not an exclusive video. It’s from ‘99. So hopefully you were “trying” to make a joke.
Either way, I wouldn’t suggest calling it an “AGLOCO promotinal video” for legal reasons. It’s libel.
Looks like you’re still taking the cheap way out to get traffic to your blog. These tactics don’t work for long and will eventually have the reverse effetc.

Kumiko, your site is too *pink* to have so much hate.

John,
My apologies. I’m well aware that my posting this week hasn’t been too perky. Just for you, I’ll change the site’s theme to black next time this occurs! Turn that frown upside down!!

When I first read your “Agloco bash”in Problogger’s First Impressions I simply gave it a laugh. I thought I’d wait for a little while to see what’s next from you before saying a few words to you.
I couldn’t believe words like “…won’t make money
EVER…” came out from an experienced blogger. And you’d supported your view with very little actual facts and understanding of Agloco. No, it isn’t just something to do
with online advertising. There are just about many more tons of other business (apart from advertising) which Agloco can get involved to bring in more revenues.
Of course, like any other business, Agloco can FAIL. But it’s revolutionary concept in its business model has come at the
right time–there are serious excesses being created by users
over the Net during the past 10 years. To sustain the continued growth of the internet’s user base someone has to start doing things differently. In this regard, Agloco’s move should be respected and supported by internet users
like you and me.
You’re clever and smart. The tactics you went about writing Agloco should have brought you 1,000’s of readers each day. See, what a little creativity can do for us in life !
Same goes to that group of young MBA’s at Stanford.
Look forward to read more good stuffs from you.
Best regards.

Schee,
Two questions that I’d love answered:
What other businesses could AGLOCO venture into?
Why is AGLOCO so revolutionary? Seems like AllAdvantage all over again to me. I would really love this explained by someone!!!

There’s one distinct difference between the 2 :
-AA-funded by venture capitalists and
with a pre-determined, fixed hourly
pay rate.
Even then, the fall of AA was primarily due to the dotCom effect
(remember the infamous 2000 Nasdaq
bust). 1,000’s of internet companies
fell. And followed by the drying-up
effects of ad. revenues.
Whereas in the case of Agloco there
isn’t any outside funding sources
(yes, someones are paying for the
pre-launched expenditure). The entire business will have to be
built jointly by its members
and the 15-member Development Team.
You see, positive cash-flow will
not come anytime soon. Have you
seen another new set-up utilizing
similar concept ? I haven’t seen
it personally in my 35 years in business. This is one part that
can be considered revolutionary.
And (if you’ve read the site
carefully) the concept of revenue
sharing is revolutionary…and
more.
What other business ?

Nice video, Kumiko
by Agloco
I have mixed feelings on Agloco and would have to side with Kumiko on this one. I think Agloco is a waste of time and is springing up everywhere like a pesky virus.
Everyone is trying to promote it, and its becoming pretty annoying and monotonous. I see it as classic MLM where the top guy will get rich(er) and the lower ones scrap for pointless pennies. Someone like John Chow will definite reap the benefits as he has the following… the others won’t do so hot. Also, I am kind of weary with a company built on hype and no product to show for it. Nobody knows how they will process their information, with which I particularly don’t like. How “private” will they keep our info and who will they give it to?
Let me ask you guys this… what if Agloco turns around and says “sorry we are not going ahead with launching the browser and closing shop”. They’ll have millions of people’s info readily at hand and what if they then sell all that info to another company for a hefty profit? What if that was the whole purpose in the first place, to scam out ones information when they never going to release the product in the first place?
Lastly, it may work in theory with the agloco calculator but in reality, how many people who have signed up will actually use the browser when it is out.
If I turn out to be wrong, I eat my humble pie and won’t mind being laughed at but to me if it is too good to be true, it almost always is.
