Amazon has launched a new service allowing customers to search for products via their mobile phone.

Sure, this was an option before for those with Internet-ready phones, but now with the TextBuyIt service, that is no longer a restriction. All that is required is text messaging capability. This should be a handy tool for anyone shopping in a brick and mortar store and wanting to compare prices.

Just text a keyword to Amazon’s number, reply with 1 or 2 to buy an item from your search results, and you will receive a call from them to confirm your order.

As far as I know, it only gives you Amazon’s own products (with their prices) as options, but it makes you wonder how long until your Amazon store items will be included in this service.

Now that’s a nice thought. Being able to be available to customers all the time. Even when they’re not on their computer. Hopefully we will see this integration materialize soon.
