Atomic Blogging: The Beginner’s Guide To Profitable Blogging

The great thing about being an internet celebrity is that between all the interviews and paid appearances – you get sent free stuff!

Behind the word “money”, my second favorite word in the English language is definitely “free” and Alvin Phang from GatherSuccess decided to work that to his advantage by sending me a free copy of his Atomic Blogging package to take a look at and check out whether it’s a money maker or not. Naturally, I accepted the task!

Is Alvin the internet’s #1 blogger?

Alvin describes himself as the World’s No.1 Blogger on the Internet (ahem….) and gives himself the enviable title of a “courageous entrepreneur”. To back it up, he slips in that he is a much sought-after speaker (his words) who regularly conducts seminars and courses on Internet Marketing.

alvin.jpg

That’s right folks – Alvin is a professional Internet Marketer.

That fact probably explains the hype behind calling himself the Internet’s #1 Blogger and the claims that he can help you triple your passive income.

If you’re going to make claims like that – you better have the skills to back it up.

So does Alvin’s blog display those skills?

As an Internet Marketer, I assume that Alvin is using his blog to build his brand and boost up his credibility by showing off all the skills and money making methods that he has.

screen1.jpg

In terms of content, his blog is not much different from most “make money online” blogs with the slight difference being that Alvin writes in a much more “successful” tone than other bloggers.

Perhaps it’s his frequent references to his marketing students or links to the step-by-step guides that he has written but I couldn’t help feeling that Alvin was trying a little too hard to build the perception that he is the most successful marketer on the internet.

From the perspective of someone who doesn’t know a lot about the online world, that’s great for him as it will help him sell his content and services. However, from the perspective of someone who is involved in online promotions, it could be seen as a little too much hype and not enough fact.

Despite that though, I do admire his attempt to compile the avatars of 2000 MyBlogLog users into a widget. That’s something that definitely deserves a little hype.

Make money blogging with Atomic Blogging

As I mentioned, Alvin has a product called Atomic Blogging that he wrote and put together to help you make money blogging.

abtitle.jpg

The system aims to teach you how to get huge amounts of free traffic and Top #10 Google rankings for your blog while at the same time making a stack of cash by blogging. And who doesn’t want all of that?

Alvin claims that the package contains $972 worth of value but for a limited time (yes…more hype) you can grab it for just $47. The package includes a one hour interview with Yaro Starak that he values at $97. I don’t know how he got that number considering that I can visit Yaro’s blog for free and find all of his tips there, but it is a pretty good video.

What you get in Atomic Blogging

Alvin graciously sent me the entire Atomic Blogging package to have a look through and there was definitely a lot of information inside. The package consists of a whole bunch of e-books, videos and Wordpress plugins to help you create and monetize a blog….for complete newbies.

It was quite unbelievable how basic some of the things were in the Atomic Blogging package that had a large number of pages devoted to them.

The main Atomic Blogging e-book consists of 92 pages and the first 52 are devoted to getting a domain with hosting, installing Wordpress and it’s plugins and then putting up Adsense.

toc.jpg

The amount of information and detail devoted to some rather simple things was incredible and definitely of very little use to someone who already has a blog. If you don’t have a blog and are completely new to the game, you may find some value in the step-by-step instructions but it’s really nothing more than the information that you’ll find on any free instructions page.

Let’s face it – if you can’t figure out how to install Wordpress, you’re really kidding yourself if you think that you have a chance of making money with it. If you are at the stage where you don’t know how to install Wordpress, I’d still check out the wordpress.org instructions page before laying down any cash.

The rest of the book is devoted to basic SEO and how to draw some traffic to your site. The information here is again quite “newbie focused” and contains nothing that a regular reader of CashQuests or any other “make money online” blog wouldn’t know already. Hence, the audience for the package is probably not anybody with a blog who is already involved in the “make money online” community.

But wait! There’s more!

Apart from the main e-book, you also get a package of other e-books that contain titles such as “MySpace Marketing Secrets” and “Adsense Revenue Exposed”.

ebooks.jpg

There’s really nothing in them that you couldn’t learn from reading a blog or basic website devoted to the topics. For example, “MySpace Marketing Secrets” pretty much just explains how big MySpace is, how you can buy a profile and then how you can send bulletins to all your “friends”.

Also in the package are a bunch of Wordpress plugins (that you can pick up for free elsewhere) and an exclusive Atomic Blogging theme.

If I were Alvin

It may come as little surprise to know that within the Atomic Blogging e-book are a few affiliate links. As the package is directed at new bloggers, they probably wouldn’t realize this and would happily use them. Hence, instead of charging money for the Atomic Blogging package, I’d give it away for free through the blog so that the book reaches the maximum number of people and commissions are maximized.

Free e-books are an absolutely brilliant way to spread your affiliate links!

On top of that, I’d actively send the package to every webmaster on a Blogger domain as these are the people who are going to get the most benefit from the package.

Is it for you?

If you’re a regular reader of CashQuests or you already have a Wordpress blog, there’s probably nothing in the package that you didn’t know already.

If you are 100% new to blogging and making money online, you will find some value in Atomic Blogging and it will save you some time in setting up your first blog and getting everything running. Furthermore, if you’re looking to get off Blogger and on to Wordpress, the package will take you through the process step-by-step. For $47, that may just be money well spent.

Is this the guy who wrote an e-book about how much his John Chow review sucked?

by Angel

And there he goes again, wasting money like he did on John Chow’s review. Sheesh, when will people learn. Research your target audience first. Hehe, last time when he ordered a review on John Chow, Alvin said that he got 0 ROI; I bet it’s going to be the same this time. Can’t believe it someone thinks that the readers of JohnChow.com and CashQuests are beginners. Alvin, go and advertise on Carlocab.com, not here….

by Ruchir

I wonder if this guy provide any concrete reason (like some alexa or technorati rating) to support his claim that he is #1. Usually when I see anyone claiming to be #1, I think to myself, “yeah right”.

I did not say John’s review suck.. =X I dont know how people got that idea.. I was just sharing real facts I got that’s it.. overall I felt the review was great.. hai.. sad that people always got a wrong impression when it comes in writing..

Thanks for the honest review =) Like John’s tactics I do have some evil plans in mind why I do so much blog reviews with blogs with so much knowledge in blogging..

Many people may think they know.. they know it all in blogging to get traffic but from experience only a handful of people actually do make money from blogging… and from walking to experts online I know many people in fact do not have that =)

Traffic is important no doubt… but can it make money is another question.. that is what I like about cashquest he shows you real ways how he makes money rather then focus on talking about traffic =)

[…] here I am again with another paid review I just did at CashQuest’s blog here. It cost me US$80 to advertise on that blog. Was it worth it? Well I will let you know in a weeks […]

Six months ago, I have buyed the package, and despite the fact that I almost don’t know anything about making money with a blog, sincerily I prefer to search by myself

Well there certainly are new ways to online marketing nowadays. There are free traffic sites really work if you know how to work them. Thanks for this though, I’ll check it out. :)

Hm.. another ebooks. Dont know if I can read it..

by shy guy

Ugh. I think even a complete newbie should have the sense to do a bit of research about the writer before they go shell out money (why is it always a $7 price point?).

First off, I have found that almost all internet marketing, blogging, etc products are completely useless.

Second, (and I’m not trying to be mean, but come on!) I really can’t imagine trying to learn from an ebook written by someone who writes stuff like: “Like John’s tactics I do have some evil plans in mind why I do so much blog reviews with blogs with so much knowledge in blogging..”

Is he playing the “smurf” game? What the blog is he trying to say?
