Blogging Fingers Sells For $6000

A couple of days ago I mentioned how the Google PageRank update was going to lead to a lot of blog sales and that Matt Jones was attempting to sell his $400 p/month site. In that post I predicted that Matt would get around $4000 as most blogs sell for 10x their monthly earnings.

Well, I was wrong.

Because Matt got 15x his monthly earnings and a whopping $6000!!

Matt initially offered the blog for sale on his site and received private offers in the $1k region but after switching to a SitePoint auction Matt wisely accepted the first bid and showed other bloggers how good he is at making money online.

This gets me thinking…

With blogs consistently selling for at least 10x their monthly earnings, CashQuests has gone from being a fun hobby to being an incredibly valuable asset.

As I’m 100% about making money online, it is only natural to start considering a sale….

I wish I had something like that that could sell like that…that is amazing. THanks for sharing that story!

Every good business person knows that you always sell at your peak. If you feel CashQuests has reached its peak, then I say go for it. Take it for all its worth and see how much you get for it.

If you still feel it hasn’t reached its peak, then don’t sell.

Simple, huh? Maybe not. Knowing when a business is at its peak isn’t easy to judge, but usually you’ll have a good gut feeling of when it is.

Bullshit,

You can’t sell, I just found this blog this past week and loved it so much I had to throw ya in my blogroll. If you cop out now, I dunno what I will do. With that said, you could probably easily sell it, and just start a new one with more money making ideas and methods, and there ya go. A successful chain of getting blogs established and sold

Good post, I caught this earlier as well and posted about it. Keep up the great work here, love dropping in and your no BS attitude and writing style.

Best,
Ruck

Naturally I am very happy with how things have gone  . All I will say for now is to stick around Blogging Fingers for a while…

After seeing it(here first) and on Sitepoint(good site) , I added a “Blog For Sale” category on 1 Cool File after viewing viewing the price they charge on Sitepoint.

At that price range, it was not a big deal for you Matt(congrats). But for a smaller blog or even just to sale the domain(with good a PR), I will charge much less for the added exposure.

CQ: Don’t sale yet because it won’t be the same :D You showed me a possible market and I use it because it fitted well with my site.

According to Ed Dale who is an authority on buying and selling websites, the standard price is 2 YEARS earnings, not 10 months. So he should have got a lot higher. I guess blogs could go for less because it’s more difficult to maintain the readership.

I mean, with this blog, CashQuests simply wouldn’t be the same with a different writer.

Totally agree with you Caroline. I`d say a website was worth exactly whatyou mention ….as per Eds figures, and yes Blogs have a much more personal touch to them i think they`ll struggle to maintain the readers under newownership … time will tell.

@ Joshua, cute Asian chicks hey .. you realise who the author of this blog is yeh?

by Neil Duckett

The standard for real world property is 2 years. The standard for websites is 8-12 monthly earnings. The standard for blogs is usually at the lower end of the 8-12 range because they depend largely on the writers personal brand.

CashQuests is right that 15 times is a very healthy price.

P.S. Caroline you were a treasured subscriber, I’m staying on for at least another week!

Probably with the new owner, Blogging Fingers will do even bettter. I think Matt Jones can do that much.
