Can You Make $15 Million Dollars Blogging?

Well, the title of my article is what it’s all about, Is it possible for anyone to make $15 million blogging online? Before you answer that, read this WebProNews article and then report back.

If you don’t feel like clicking I’ll summarize the story for you. Johns Wu, a successful blogger for Bankaholic was able to sell his blog site for a whopping $15 million to Bankrate.com.

Whether the site deserved that kind of money is another question, but instead let’s look at how this was accomplished. In that WebProNews article, Wu mentions much of the same that you hear from other pro bloggers. Distinguish yourself, have a good user interface…blah blah blah. It’s the same song and dance we’ve heard before.

No offense to John Wu, because it’s a amazing that he sold his site for such a high price. I believe that it’s how businesses are catching on to blogs, and other kinds of sites that made it possible for Wu to strike oil. I also believe that this could be the beginning of a trend, especially if this works out for BankRate. All it takes is a big price tag like that, then the future success of the purchase. Then just watch as more blogs get bought out. So, Can you make $15 Million dollars blogging? The answer is yes, and I think it’s just a matter of time before we hear of other blogs selling for price tags in the millions.

Hey, just to clarify things, bankaholic is built on wordpress, but the blog function is only secondary to its main function, which is helping people find CD rates, money market rates, credit card offers etc. I see a lot of articles where this website is being touted as a blog when its blog component is only a small part of a much larger whole. Still, big props to Johns for cashing in big time on his site.
