Free Tickets to the Future of Online Advertising?

I noticed on Problogger last Friday that he was giving away 5 free tickets to the Future Of Online Advertising (FOOA) conference to be held on the 7-8 June in New York. This immediately intrigued me because not only is he speaking there, but because the tickets are priced at a shocking $995!Seriously, what are you going to learn there that you can’t already read on the various speakers’ blogs? Admittedly, it’ll probably be presented a little more clearly, but $995?! It’s all about networking with the A-listers and making contacts. $995 to network and meet a few people? Personally, I’d buy a Nintendo Wii. Make that two Nintendo Wiis.

But I digress. When more than five people replied in the comments that they had won tickets, my suspicions were aroused and I decided to do a little searching around for some information on the FOOA. Needless to say, there are actually quite a few tickets being given away across the internet and it didn’t take too long for me to actually win one!

By win one, I mean win a promotion code that lets you register online for free.

There’s zero chance of me travelling to New York unless a few readers wisely take up the new opportunity to buy advertising on this site, so I’m giving away the promotion code. I make no guarantees that it will still work, but if you want it, leave a comment telling me why you want it and I’ll choose the best as a winner. You’ve got about 48 hours.

If you don’t manage to get a ticket but still want to go, use the promotion code 10p3rc to get 10% off.

As I said, no guarantees the promotion code still works. But isn’t it worth a try?

I want it because i just quitted my job to go into internet marketing (I’m that serious! Some think I’m nuts but commend me on my bravery and wished me luck anyway) and the networking session at the conference would definitely help alot!

I’m still in the midst of getting the site up so I’m logging in as an anonymous user for now. Do let me know if I win by emailing to a.writers.blog@gmail.com

Thanks in advance!

Dee - If I had a Nintendo Wii promotion code, I’d be selling it, not giving it away!

Kumiko I’ll throw out the most ovbious of reasons why I’d like the promotion code: save money. Yes the intent of going to the conference to be able to potentially make money but having to spend nearly $1,000 to do so seems a bit crazy! As a college student money isn’t easy to come by. However I digress and say that I could afford a train ticket from Detroit to NY for the conference.

Also networking is INVALUABLE. Therein lies my greater reason for desiring the promotion code. Assuming I make no greater amount of money from that which I gain from the conference, the potential contacts I make at the event will put me head and shoulders ahead of competitors. As Darren has been speaking more frequently about group blogs, and group based websites, the value of good contacts seem only to have risen. That being said, the creating of a contact for a future site which may take off is hypothetically even more valuable than the conference itself.
