Google Held To Ransom!
While many webmasters are still whining about Google’s monopoly on the internet, Sebastian Klein has decided to fight back against the search engine giant by registering a whole bunch of Google related domain names and is holding them ransom in exchange for…a job!
Taking site leverage to a new level, Sebastian has written a job application for Google and has posted it on eight separate domains (all of which contain the keyword ‘Google’). He writes:
I would not like to keep these domains, earn also no money with it. I return it to you immediately free of charge. All I seek for is a job at Google.
Sebastian has posted his ransom letter on domains such as www.gdrivegoogle.com, www.labsgoogle.de and www.packgoogle.de.
A Google spokesperson has responded with, “This guy’s approach is certainly novel, but I’d probably advise him to email us a CV via our jobs board instead.”
While registering domains with trademarked keywords is nothing new, holding them for ransom in exchange for a job is definitely a unique way to make money online.
I may have to give it a try….

In a word, pathetic.
In another word, stupid.
What’s to stop Google from hiring the guy just to get the domain names back (if they really wanted them) and turning around and firing him?

Lol I love the response from Google telling him to appy via the job board. Sometimes you need to do something different, other times all you need to do is the obvious thing. Somehow I doubt he’ll get a job this way.
Interestingly a friend-of-a-friend was offered a job at Google last week. Why? He’s been a huge contributer in Google groups for several years, is an MVP and is just about to publish a book about C#3. In other words - he’s out there contributing and showing people what he’s capable of.
Actions speak louder than silly domain names.

He should buy gorgle.com, gooooogle.com and something like that XD hahaha.. I wonder what he want to do with Google?

Whats to say they wont hire him for marketing? I mean the guy is ceative.

As Google said, this is “novel”. I guess Google can live without those domains. I could register “PresidentOfGoogle.com”. Do you think Google would care? Not a bit. What about hiring me? No way.
Man, that’s not interesting, it’s just a funny news. Go ahead and contact them by email, send your CV and let them decide if you’re good.

Absolutely ridiculous. If Google were so minded they could get those domain names back from him in the blink of an eye just by threatening him with the law. And if it went to court they would win!

Ha ha ha.. How’s stupid…

I don’t know this is a good idea… I think it’s likely to end up in trouble for him from the Google Suits.

Would you hire someone who tries to attract your attention in this way? I think not. It’s almost like stealing…

He looks too old to work for Google. They only want to hire people who’re young and naive, not old and cunning.
