Greed Is Good - And So Is StockTradingToGo

I’m the first to admit that I don’t know a lot about the stock market. My knowledge is pretty much limited to “buy low and sell high” and the only financial investments that I make are those that invest in internet ventures that I’ve created or that I can play a role in promoting.

But when you visit a great looking site like StockTradingToGo and see that the site has around 660 RSS readers, you realize straight away that the “making money on the stock market” niche is much bigger than the make money online niche will ever be.

The simple truth is that there is more money to be made on the stock market than will ever be made on the internet. What sets the online world apart from Wall Street is that it is open to everybody and making money can be as easy as signing up for a free blogger account.

I decided to check out StockTradingToGo and see if it could open up the world of investment analysis and trading to a little ol’ blogger like me.

Would you like those stocks here or to go?

Blain Reinkensmeyer is the financial mind behind StockTradingToGo and his goal in life is to become a full-time blogger and stock trader. As a full-time blogger myself, I know which of those will probably make you the most money and it isn’t the one that uses Wordpress! However, blogging also has a lot less risk attached to it so it’s probably a smart move on his part to “diversify his dreams” and spread out the risk.

An investor since he was 15 years old, Blain has been investing for all of his adult life and is incredibly passionate about the market and it’s nuances. Blain has lost a lot of money on the stock market, but he’s also made a lot too and at one time held a portfolio in excess of $100,000. Unfortunately, the market has since wiped $70,000 from that - but hey - it’s a lesson learned!

While Blain doesn’t list any qualifications or licenses in the world of stock trading on his About page, you’ll immediately pick up from the passionate tone of his writing that this is a man who loves the market and wants to share his passion with you.

Newbie on board

As a complete and utter newbie to the stock market, I was at first a little hesitant to start reading the site due to my fear of becoming lost and confused in a world of numbers and charts that I don’t understand.

However, as soon as I hit the homepage the header of the site assured me that the site would make investing online easy and the ‘For Beginners’ section set my mind at ease.

I was immediately attracted to any posts that used the word ‘basic’ or ‘for beginners’ in the title and some posts that I read and easily understood included:

And for some reason there was also 5 Blog Design Tips For A Clean, Effective Layout. A good post, but I don’t know why it was on a stock market site!

Blain has a writing style that is simple and easy to understand. As a blogger, he knows about effective headings and sub-headings to break the content down into digestible chunks. Furthermore, he appears to realize that each post should be able to be read on it’s own and gives plenty of background information and definitions where necessary.

Stuck in the middle with stocks

Just as many ‘make money online‘ blogs often write “about” making money online as much as “how to” make money online, Blain does the same with stocks.

It is not a purely informative or analytical site but is more of a blog for traders to enjoy. Posts such as 10 Easy To Make Lunches For The Stay At Home Investor which explore some great snacks to eat while trading illustrate how varied the topics are. As I explored the site, I found myself feeling like I was reading a trading magazine rather than an academic textbook and in this situation I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not.

While the “magazine style” of posts are certainly accessible to those with no understanding of the stock market, I can’t help but feel that the target audience for the site would be more interested in posts with a higher degree of technical analysis. After all, in the stock market there is a lot of money at risk.

On the other hand, there are lot of these academic sites around and by being more relaxed about the topic, Blain is carving himself his own niche that I find to parallel something like ‘Time Magazine’. It’s not an academic journal - but it’s still interesting and educational.

For the blogging audience, Blain also publishes his monthly earnings and statistics for the blog and September saw him bring in over $900! If he makes that from a blog, I’m left wondering how much Blain is making on the stock market!

The stocks are looking good

StockTradingToGo has just undergone a redesign thanks to the world’s best blog designer, Nate Whitehill from Unique Blog Designs. As such, the layout is looking fantastic and has all the right elements in the right spots. Furthermore the site is quite active with Blain often writing multiple posts per day and receiving a high number of comments on each post. With his large RSS numbers, the site gives a great first impression of success.

The site also sisters with another of Blain’s creations, StockChartsToGo which is also based on one of Nate’s templates and provides stock information focused more on chart analysis.

Is it for you?

As a CashQuests.com reader, there’s little doubt that you’re probably interested in the internet and making money. If you also have an interest in the stock market, then StockTradingToGo is a site that you’re going to enjoy reading.

The stock market isn’t for everyone as it requires a lot of research and education before you can wisely part with your money, but the writing style of Blain makes StockTradingToGo the perfect place to start learning the basics about the market.

If you’re interested in the stock market, or curious to find out what it has on offer, StockTradingToGo is a fantastic destination for you to check out.
