How I Made $1000 Online

Thanks to a donation from a fantastic reader who wishes to remain anonymous, I’ve FINALLY cracked the first $1000 mark with my blog earnings!

It’s been a long, hard journey to get this point but it’s a fantastic feeling to officially be able to call myself a “four figure blogger” and I’m going to enjoy it as much as I can!

The large portion of the cash has been earned through these programs which anyone can apply to join right now:

The remaining income has been earned through direct sales and deals with other sites. Hence, my biggest advice to new money makers is to make and maintain good relationships.

Some of the ideas and techniques that I used in the beginning are truly embarrassing when compared with what I know now. Despite the controversy that I’ve created, it’s all been nothing more than a learning journey for me. And if I’ve made myself and others a few dollars along the way, then all I can say is “let’s enjoy four figure blogging!

Congrats Kumiko!

PPP worked so well for you, I bet you’ll double that amount in the next 2 months…

Keep up the great blogging!

by VC Dan

Thank you so much! I’ve had some delays with PPP through switching my domain, but things are back on track and I actually think I’ll TRIPLE the PPP earnings over the next few months! To put it simply and honestly: “The PPP marketplace freakin’ rocks!”

by Princess Kumiko

Wow kumiko , i think your PPC earnings are good :)
Congrats !

by hannie

Believe it or not, I don’t use any PPC advertising on this site! It’s all done through other means….

by Princess Kumiko

Oppss i thot you did ppc :) hey not bad u dont waste money on advertising :)

Congratulations, Kumiko! You deserve it. :) I wish I’ve earned that much too, haha.

Your PPP comment gives me an idea. Are you interested in some added incentive/challenge for your next quest?

If you can earn $1000 via PPP Marketplace and PPP Direct by July 31, I’ll add $50 to your earnings. The one requirement is that you have to grow your traffic and subscribers during the same time — a measure that you maintained quality.

If you accept the challenge, post a screenshot of your $150-200 PPP earnings so far and then on July 31. The full $1000 doesn’t need to be paid by July 31, just earned via approved posts.

You can probably get close with just Marketplace, but I’m guessing you’ll need some PPP Direct opps to push you over the top in this short challenge.

Will you accept the challenge? ;-)

by VC Dan

That’s a very, very interesting challenge. The problem is that I don’t have PageRank for this domain so there aren’t a lot of opportunities available to me in the PPP marketplace. I do my PPP posts on a variety of other domains (some publicly known, some not) that have PR and were started in the course of this quest.

I agree that to be successful, I’d need both the marketplace and direct for this site.

How about we open it up a little? I’ll throw in $50 with yours so that the Kumiko’s Cash Quest reader who earns the most through PPP under the same conditions gets an extra $100 on top of their earnings?

by Princess Kumiko

kumiko, how do u earn a living? it takes a lot of time and effort just to make $1,000 by blogging. u must really really like writing.

if u put of one of those “if u like the post buy me a beer” thingys, every time u make me laugh, i’ll buy r a beer. deal?

if u would of had one of those “buy me a beer” thingys, then u would now have made $1,047.00.

keep up the good work, u r an excellent writer.

Haha!! Thank you! I should buy you a beer for making me laugh! I’ve considered that plugin but I don’t drink much beer so it wouldn’t be honest.

If I can find a “Buy me a Pink Lady cocktail” plugin, I’ll install it right away!

by Princess Kumiko

Actually you can change the text to whatever you want I think. So it could be a “Buy me a Pink Lady cocktail” if you wanted

by Cody

kumiko, that’s a great idea. take the “buy me a beer” and mess with the codes like u do, and i’ll be the first to buy u a pink lady cocktail.

like how u think, excellent

Kumiko,

How about we double the challenge. One ($50 from me) for you and one ($50 from me + $50 from you) for your first reader who reaches $1000 new PPP earnings. Let’s extend the window to August 30 so long as it’s $1000 NEW PPP earnings from the start of this challenge.

I’m fine with you using multiple blogs, so long as your PPP dashboard shows earnings across them and we’ll use the honor system on your multi-blog traffic/subscribers.

Maybe this is the “Race Kumiko to PPP $1,000″ challenge?? Wanna do it?

by VC Dan

Sounds like PayPerPost should be paying you for this kind of promotion.

Great post Kumiko -

This is one of the reasons I originally started following your articles. The posted earnings were just like mine at the beginning… really really bad *grins* That is why I dig following you - cuz you have been brave enough to show your learning curve.

Keep up the good work!

by Mark from Bloglyne

Finally ! Congratulations and best wishes. What are your plans for future? You mentioned some idea because of letter “s” in cashquests, or I got that wrong? Anyway, good luck, we will follow you!

by Flanture - Flash Adventure

Yes, the power of that “s” is very important and will be revealed soon. I have evil plans for it!

by Princess Kumiko

Big milestone for you Kumiko, congrats. And yes, you’re very welcome for any help I may have provided along the way… it was all worth it because your blog has been very entertaining these past six months.

by Michael Kwan - Freelance Writer

Although the post title sounds somewhat depressing, I think it’s something to be proud of. Congratulations!

by Slaptijack

Haha! I didn’t mean for it to be depressing, but I can see how it could be seen that way. At the $2000 mark, I’ll call it “I did it quicker this time!”

by Princess Kumiko

Congratulations! I am really happy for you! I always enjoy reading your blog, even if I don’t agree with you sometimes it’s still fun and interesting to read, you have your own style (I am still trying to find mine  )

congrats kumiko - you need to start aiming for 5 figures now! :)

You said that you’ve earned $117 from FriendFinder but why can’t I find any FriendFinder banner on your site?

by Alwitt

She had her “About Me” linked to it for a while and the only way to view her profile was to register for an account. Evilness personified.

by Michael Kwan

Hehe…maybe I should bring that back? It was a good earner!

by Princess Kumiko

(Comments wont nest below this level)

Don’t get me wrong… It’s not that I want to view her profile on FriendFinder.com    , but I’m really curious how did she earned $117 when there’s no FriendFinder banner? Hmm.. You haven’t answer my question yet, Kumiko…

I signed up for FriendFinder affiliate program too but haven’t put any banner to my website because I’m worried… isn’t FriendFinder against Google TOS?

And BTW… why is there “WordPress database error: bla… bla… bla…” in your Comment Form section? You should fix it immediately, Kumiko…

Love You… Mmmuachhh!

by Alwitt

I used to use it a lot on the site but don’t anymore. Now all the income comes from other webmasters that I’ve referred to the program.

Congratulations Kumiko,

Although $1000 in six months from any other work is not much :(
But $1000 in six months form a new blog “6 months old” is GOOD :)

It should have been a lot of work, keep it up (sure you will), as this $1000 wil be doubled if not tripled in the next month, and each month then.

Good luck, you deserve it :)

I have to say that is an amazing amount of growth. I wish you the best of luck with the future weeks and I am excited to see how it goes. Have you seen what Courtney Tuttle has done? He is pretty impressive.

by Cade @ Write To Right

Such an occasion deserves serious celebration…

How about commemorating this milestone by writing an ebook talking about your journey, in the spirit of John Chow and Yaro Starak? :)

by topcat

I won’t say I won’t…but not yet…

by Princess Kumiko

Congrats! K.
Does this also mean you’re nearing your ‘full time” blogger status? You’d do very well if you do this full time. :)

by Eugene

That’s the dream ain’t it. To become a full time blogger :)

Anyway, I’m also starting my own challenge to reach USD1,000 after hitting first challenge of RM1000 in a month (that’s about USD 285).

I disagree that if you knew then what you know now (sounds like the lyrics of a country song doesn’t it :) ), you can reach the USD1000 in 6 weeks. It takes time to build a faithful crowd of readers and gain rankings in Technorati, Alexa and Google. Of course, if those were discounted, then I agree you can hit the 1000 mark in 6 weeks.

Congrats!

Congratulations Kumiko! It is awesome to achieve milestones! Next up is $10 000!

Hi Kumiko, always great to read site/blog owners making money online.

I thought I would recommend another source to earn money from. LinkWorth offers many of the services you use, plus a few more. You can earn 70% of all sales and we’ve been around for 3.5 years, which means we have a huge customer base. I think your site will do well.

Keep up the good work and hope to see that number continue to grow!

by Ron

Kumiko, so in the first week your site hit 700 unique visitors and you made $5.95, that’s not bad!
I think I’m doing something wrong, because I have over 1000 uniques and $0 :)

Congratulations, Kumiko! I can’t wait to see you hit five figures ;)

Hey Kumiko, a very late congrats!
I’ve been following your site (but stopped for the past fortnight or so), but after rereading this post, I wanted to ask you to make a post regarding “what you know now” regarding moneymaking through blogging. What would you have done to monetize your blog, what would you have done differently?I find your success especially interesting since you don’t use adsense or donations (yet, I presume).
Looking forward to that post… and forgive me if you’ve already made it!
