How To Make Money From A Million Euro Wiki Page

There has been a LOT of discussion around the internet recently as to whether or not buying a page on the Million Euro Wiki can make you money or not. Those who don’t know about making money online have claimed that money will only be made by a select few who know how to promote and market a page - after reading this you’ll be one of those select few!

Know your audience

The key to making money with anything is to know your audience and to know what they’re after. So who is the audience for the Million Euro Wiki? Well, right now the site is still in the initial stages and the main force behind the buzz is coming from the strong “make money online” community who are promoting the site to their audience.

Hence, in these early days, the majority of visitors to the Million Euro Wiki will be those experienced in or looking to learn how to make money online. They will be checking out the site, building their own pages and closely following it’s progress.

Due to the Million Euro Wiki’s $30 affiliate program, word of the site will then spread to the regular community and pages will start being bought by regular online businesses who wish to promote their site and/or product. As buzz builds, the traffic will shift to regular internet users.

Therefore, in the short term your audience is other marketers but in the long term you need to consider your regular internet users.

Choose your page wisely

Whether you want to make money in the short term, long term or both - you need to choose your page wisely!

I bought the ‘business’ page as it is a word that appeals to all sorts of traffic and can be easily changed to promote different programs or sites as the traffic demographic changes.

The ‘Business’ page can be used to promote Text Link Ads to the ‘make money online‘ crowd now but once the traffic shifts to the general business community, I plan on changing the page to promote a business cards affiliate program. The page is already a money maker but it will still need continual tests and adjustments as the needs of the reader changes.

In my opinion, versatile words that appeal to all sorts of traffic like ‘computer‘, ‘internet‘, ‘forum‘, ‘music‘ and ‘politics‘ represent the best value as the pages can easily be changed and modified to promote different products. For example, the ‘internet‘ page could be used to drive traffic to a website OR be used to make money through a hosting affiliate program.

However, if you choose a page like ‘tea’ - you’re pretty much limiting yourself to the regular internet user who is interested in tea - and that’s a small group!

If you can’t decide on a page, think about which domain names are the most valuable on the internet. There is a good reason that these domain names are the most expensive and the words make the best pages to buy!

Make the most of your page

The design of the Million Euro Wiki pages makes it perfect for a ‘landing page‘ style promotion. Apart from the large header on the site, there is very little to distract the reader and their focus will be kept on your page.

Use these quick tips to make a great Million Euro Wiki page:

  • A large headline that quickly explains why your page is useful
  • Explain the benefits you are offering to the reader
  • Testimonials or proof of your claims
  • Frequent ‘calls to action’ so the reader knows the next step
  • Relevant images and graphics

Creating a great promotional page is an art that can’t be taught in a single article. It’s also a case of continual learning and refinement that I’m still working on myself. As a starter, you should read this post and definitely be subscribed to Copyblogger.

Drive traffic to it

Some people have questioned what they get for the money that they pay for a page. The owner of the Million Euro Wiki is using it to promote the site and has even gone so far as to spend $500 on a press release. However, while this is benefiting you by driving traffic to the site - you need to drive traffic to your specific page.

Driving traffic to your page will not only get your page seen but will also help it rise through the popular posts section of the Million Euro Wiki so that it is seen by even more people.

Getting traffic to your page can be as simple as blogging about your purchase, stumbling it or starting a thread in a forum with a link to your page. Think about how you drive traffic to your other sites and employ the same principles.

I highly recommend promoting their iPod Touch giveaway as it is a hot selling point.

But if you don’t do anything - don’t expect to make money.

Make money

By following these concepts, you’re in a better position than most to make money from your Million Euro Wiki page. Not everyone is going to make money from their page as they won’t consider these techniques but those who do are in a better position than others and have 100% more chance of making money than those who don’t buy a page!

What should you do once you start making money? Tell others about how much money you’ve made so that you can make $30 per referral through their affiliate program!

If you’re worried that you’ll be referring people who won’t make their money back - simply send them a link to this guide!!

Or alternatively spend $60 on hosting and buying a search targetted domain name. Get yourself a free template and spend the time you would have spent promoting the Million Dollar Wiki building your own authority website and promoting it. It’s not that you can’t make money from a wiki page, it’s just that there are much better ways of making a better return IMHO.

Sounds like a really good sales pitch here.

“Those who don’t know about making money online have claimed that money will only be made by a select few who know how to promote and market a page.”

- Ouch! You wouldn’t happen to be referring to me would you

I love that you’ve put the disclaimer at the top. Possibly a result of our discussions? You are a clever one! :D

All kidding aside, I’m glad you’ve put up some tips on how to turn one of the poor investments into a winner.

The problem with ad copy is that it can come across as patronizing. Some people will see straight through it (usually people who write it for a living), while others will see it as sound advice. It’s interesting to read people’s reactions.

I think excessive use of bold and italics can be distracting. It’s like filling up your copy with exclamation points. A reader will stop at every part and wonder why he is being made to stop.

Angel,

I know where you’re coming from and I often feel the same way. However, as most people don’t write for living I believe it is usually seen as advice more often than not. Yes, marketers can often see right through it - but regular visitors don’t.

The use of bold and italics on sales pages is done for a very good reason - most people scan the pages rather than actually read them. Getting the person to stop at the key selling points is the goal of the page.

While I don’t like to read them myself, the #1 reason that marketers use those incredibly long sales pages with large headings and bold, colorful text is simply that they work.

You’re quite right actually. I think I really need to start looking at websites from a more generalized point of view to understand how readers think, because often the way many readers think isn’t how I think.

Bold and italics is also well recognised as one of the simplest forms of on the page SEO so it has 2 uses.

Yes I know that. But it still disturbs my reading.

No offence but as someone said you just become Cow’s tool to promote his stolen idea.
Every 2,3 days I see a post reffering to MEW on your blog. Is this the way you understand the affiliate promotion?

by loredan

No offence, but I think it is a bit hypocritical to talk about a stolen idea when you run millionblogs.org which pretty much the exact same thing - although not as good.
Or perhaps your negative comment stems from the fact that MEW is your competition? Is that how you understand the site marketing?

by Cash Quests

MillionBlogs.org it is based indeed on the MDW concept but developed in a such way that it should become a good informational platform more than anything else while MEW is just a sad copycat of something already done so no, I don’t see MEW my competition. Different things, different concepts, different moral values.
My comment was just that as a reader of your blog I hate to see you every few days desperately promoting your affiliate coupon. I would preffer to read something much more useful coming from some hardcore money makers.
It’s sad to see the way you choose to respond to your reader which also prove something else, but well… I’m not going to discuss this any further…
