John Chow Gets Angry At AGLOCO, Posts A Video
It must be AGLOCO week on this site or something!
Perhaps the biggest supporter of AGLOCO is a man that I’d love to cook dinner for - Mr John Chow. With 15,000 referrals in his AGLOCO network, Mr John Chow has done a lot to help build and grow the AGLOCO community mailing list.
Therefore, I was quite shocked to find out that he had written this comment on the official AGLOCO blog:
Hey Brain,
You posted in a comment that the Viewbar would be ready later this week. It is now the end of the week and there’s no Viewbar.
I would imagine your advertisers must be getting pretty upset with you. I deal with advertisers all the time and I know when I tell them their ads will start on this date and run till that date, they expect that. If I miss the start date, they start demanding discounts, or worst, pull their ads.
The 17 ad networks you’re dealing with can’t be very happy either. I’m sure more than a few were expecting a huge increase in sellable ad inventory and told many of their clients about the new marketplace. They may have even lined up a bunch of sales. Now they look like fools. Whatever inventory their clients ordered would surely be gone in the next few days.
I find it amazing that a company who’s sole source of income is advertising would think about getting their ad server to work with the viewbar last. Shouldn’t that have been the first thing you did?
Now you have pissed off members and you’re going to have pissed off advertisers. I wrote an email to AK asking for conference call. I got no reply. That seems to be the communication mode lately.
I think it’s time for a management change. If you guys can’t bring this to market, then get a team in there that can.

www.JohnChow.comMr Chow certainly put a fire under someone’s ass as he now has a video of him using the AGLOCO viewbar on his computer. Good for him - it’s always nice to see someone write with a bit of fire!
However, I think the key word in what he wrote is the word “management“. AGLOCO claims that they have hired ‘Infomediary Services Corporation’ to control consumer information and that this corporation will receive part of AGLOCO earnings (before members do!). Control over a large database containing the personal information of thousands of users is a huge responsibility - so who is in control?
I don’t know! I can’t find them!
I may be wrong, but wouldn’t a corporation that manages an e-business, will receive a percentage of revenue and is going to control a massive information database mailing list at least have a website?
Despite my best efforts, I haven’t been able to find any information about this corporation and considering that “Infomediary” is a word mainly used by AGLOCO founders, I can only draw one conclusion - Infomediary Services Corporation are the AGLOCO creators!
Is that bad? Not necessarily, but I wouldn’t call it open and transparent either.
And when one of their most influential members calls for a management change (which I agree with) the chances of it happening appear to be pretty close to zero.

Hi Kumiko,
I’m a new reader of you since a few days.
I read Johnchows new article but I did not know about his comment left on the Agloco website.
by Linkrain
Hi Linkrain! JC’s comment was brought to light in the comment section of that post. I thought it deserved a little more attention than it received there!

Hi Kumiko,
This was needed and i think should have seid that sometime ago.
They have lost trust not only mine but the thousands of members of the site.
And now i don’t think they will do good in future.

kumiko, Any reason why we can leave a comment on your blog through blogger account only?

Hi Jack!
This will (hopefully!) be the last AGLOCO post for a while. I’m sure they’ll do something ridiculous soon though!
I was playing around with the site and hit a few wrong buttons on the comments settings. Should be ok now!

I am wondering if the real scam here may be on any investors that thought a second try of the same idea would work. They managed to create a lot of interest and publicity and still have no product.

Hey, do you think JC’s typo was deliberate??
“Hey Brain,”

[...] My initial assumption was that people had finally given up on it, but then I remembered that after John Chow’s angry letter to AGLOCO, they sent him a Viewbar and he posted a video of him actually using it. I thought this would [...]

Wow!! I had not seen this post until today.
Agloco must have been scared shitless seeing John Chow posting an angry comment on their blog!!
He makes a really great point here: “I find it amazing that a company who’s sole source of income is advertising would think about getting their ad server to work with the viewbar last. Shouldn’t that have been the first thing you did?”

People are so gullible when they think there is an easy way to riches. Don’t you think?
