Thanks to Alexandru from Shylock Blogging, I got a hot tip on a new Wordpress plugin that looks like a money maker!

The plugin allows you to have different Adsense setups in your posts depending on the age of the post. This means that you can limit the advertising in a post while it’s at the top of your homepage and then whack in a huge money making ad block once the post is deeper in your site and only likely to be found by search engine users. Your loyal readers won’t be annoyed by your advertising!

From the plugin page:

“You can insert a 468×60 ad at the bottom of a new article, and once that article turns 7 days old it will have a more aggressive 336×280 ad blended with the text from the beginning of that article.

This way your regular readers will not be bothered by your ads, while visitors coming to older posts from search engines or other sources, will see a version that is monetized better.”

The plugin also has the ability to completely remove advertising from a post which is great for paid reviews and when you’ve written a killer article that you don’t want to be diluted by ads.

Monetizing only your older posts is a great technique as it keeps your homepage looking fresh and clean for your readers while your posts that are only going to be found by search engines keep making you money. One of my top monetization tips has always been to find which posts on your site get the most search engine hits and consider ways to add in pay-per-click advertising and affiliate links.
