Resolutions For Making Money In 2009

I hope that everyone had a wonderful New Years, and for whatever reason isn’t still recovering from the party. Now is the time of year that people try to stick to their guns about keeping the resolutions that they set on New Years Eve before the ball dropped.

Undoubtedly, one of the resolutions on everyone’s mind was ‘making money’. As we continue down the so called “recession”, it’s going to take some creative thinking to monetize a business venture. If you listen to the experts, the online world is one place that is likely to be recession proof.

So, as we look into 2009 and see the future of our websites, what is it going to take become or remain successful?

First, become community minded. The ideas behind Web 2.0 might have gotten the ball rolling, but it’s just now becoming an avalanche. If you want to see page traffic, and clicks increase then you’re going to need to get some friends. I’ve noticed this past year an increase in visits to numerous sites based on finds from different social networks. Creating a Facebook, MySpace, Twitter account is a good start to getting your website, and interests out in the open.

Stay Creative, Nobody Likes To See Clones. The more you read economical, and online news the more you hear of ‘recession-proof’. As we head into 2009, you better believe there’s going to be a huge increase in websites. Most of them are probably going to be duplicates of other sites, only with less quality.

Stay ahead of the game, be creative, and really drive home the point of the content that you want to make available to your users. As the pool gets more and more crowded, the space for viewers will continue to shrink. Being creative with your content, and layout will work wonders to standing out in the crowd.

Localize, and Personalize. Before the New Year began, I wrote about how Page Ranking is starting to become less important in the eyes of certain search engines. I’m not telling you to completely give up maintaining your page rank practices but to shift your focus into other avenue.

As you continue adding content to your site, try and add a local, or personal flavor to your site. If you write about restaurants, then include more establishments in your local area. The smaller the area that you discuss, the more likely you are to be on top of internet users’ search engines.

We really have to think if we have to stick to our resolutions this 2009 or leave it behind on 2008. It is breaking a promise if you decide not to change things.
