Saying No To The Money

It hurts!! It’s painful!! It makes me want to cry!

This week I declined a ReviewMe review and turned down a mass of opportunities available on PayPerPost!!Why would I do such a crazy thing on my cash quest? The posts just wouldn’t have been appropriate for this site as they would have been way too far off-topic. Have a look at some of the stuff on offer at PayPerPost:

I just can’t think of a way to spin dating and streaming TV into a way to make money online!I think overall, I probably said “Not on my blog!” to about $100 worth of posts this week. Did I make the right decision? If my bank account could talk, I think it would say “No!”.

ouch. i can see why you said no though, what’s more valuable, $100 or losing a chunk of readers because they think you sold out? i see nothing wrong with slipping in a few here and there though since your readers all have a common goal and would understand :)

Dating sites make a lot of money online?

by James

well kumiko, that decision will differentiate your blog from being a successful one or another normal blog out there …

sometime the temptation is just too strong for you isn’t it? but think of the potential of tens of thousands per-month and these offers will look like peanuts …

all the best … cheers …

Perhaps you could rub off a little on John Chow, he seems to be plugging everything and the kitchen sink these days. I really do like his blog, but some of his review choices don’t make any sense.

Unfortunately, of late, I’ve been saying a quiet but firm no to a lot of the opps that are coming up on PPP.

The result isn’t so good as last month. Nearly half way thru the month, but income is only 1/3 of average for PPP.

I’m not complaining, though, I do have good reasons, if you read some of my previous posts on this topic, Kumiko.

Segmentation .

Good luck on your new domain!

Sounds like a good call to me, even though it’s hard to turn down money. Your readers will appreciate your loyalty to the topic at hand and they’ll remain loyal to you in return, keeping your traffic up.

Although dating websites and making money online can definitely be intertwined. John Chow was blogging about PlentyofFish and how they make $10,000 a day.

I think you made the right decision Kumiko, it will all pay for itself in the end I’m sure.

I blogged about your site and your payperpost’s on my blog recently too.

Good Luck Kumiko.

You could say something like “I just made $10 from this sponsored post and since it’s a blog about making money it’s all relevant even if the post is off topic”. Haha. I think you can do something with that dating one like “if you don’t like FriendFinder (aff)you can try this place instead”. :D

I think you’ve made the hardest yet right decision. You’ve said it .. it’s hard to say no to money but it would be even harder to be called “posting just for money”

by dee

In the end it’s probably a good thing to skip these. I must admit that for some of the sponsored posts you had earlier, I just looked at it, mentally marked it as an ad, scrolled to the bottom to confirm that, and then just ignored the post altogether. But that’s just me.

You did. I’ve done the same this past week with my blogs. If you post about whatever just for a few bucks, you’ll lose visitors in the long run and actually LOSE money.

Good call.

Hi everyone! It looks like most people think that I made the right decision and don’t like the sponsored posts anyway!

I’ve putting together a super-secret plan to cut back the sponsored posts on this site yet still make money…should be an interesting experiment!

Hmmm makes me want to run a “I’ve Sold Out” Blog

Sometimes the hardest choice is the best one.

Kumiko: where do you actually make money from friendfinder? That’s where you can also make money with any dating post :-)

And like Laura says: take the opp and your next post explain your readers why they shouldn’t take posts like that (but you would be suprized how many readers attracted by your avatar wouldn’y mind some info about roses and romance)

by Hainan

Well my dear Kumiko. I have noticed that you do know how to make money.
Letting your readers know how you’re not a sell-out while still earning money. Maybe even more than by being a sell-out:)
Number one rule in affiliate marketing: Never forget to include your referral link everywhere you can;)

Hi Business Card Guru! Not entirely my intention but good to see you’re paying attention!

Good on you Kumiko - I myself are guilty of doing way to many unrelated sponsored posts and it probably kills my blogs potential - but then on the other hand I want to show how much money can be made online so its a hard one. There are of course ways of hiding them - e.g doing a couple of articles at the same time - that way they can just slip quietly into the archives! Or of course if you are reviewing sponsored sites - its only fair you need to test them out a bit.

Sell your soul to the ad demons.

Sometimes I think paid reviews can do a lot more harm than good. Unfortunately, for me, they are the only thing paying my hosting bill at the moment!! :(

by swollenpickles

Ouch! Well, you put your readers first, and they will appreciate it.
