Spreading The Online Money Making Love!

This has certainly been a pretty exciting week so far!First, Darren Rowse of the immensely popular Problogger.net accepted my controversial article about how AGLOCO will not make money online to be included in one of his posts! Click here to visit Darren’s post. It’s been a goal of mine since my site started to get on his front page and I finally achieved it! What makes it even better is that it was for an article that I’m quite passionate about.

So that old piece of website building advice is true - “Write about things you are interested in”.

That was pretty exciting for me in itself but I almost fainted and fell on the floor once I found out that the same article had made the front page of Jeremy Schoemaker’s great site Shoemoney. Click here to visit his fantastic post. He even honors me by using some of my arguments in his post!

These are both sites that I’ve been subscribed to for quite some time and that I read with great interest. They are both amazingly popular and I guess the feeling I have now is kind of like meeting your heroes!

It just goes to show that a little hard work and passion can pay off!

Next goal: Number one on Google - for EVERY keyword!! Haha!! This could take some time…

UPDATE (21 Feb): Oops…I did it again!

Good on you, Kumiko for getting on both Darren’s and Shoe’s radar. I know both of them in a small way with back channel messages but I’ve never been on their blog, mainly because I don’t blog on “blogging” subjects.

You are getting on well, keep writing about what you believe in and I’m sure the rest will follow.

What the blogging business/mechanics side of the “blogosphere” needs is more people willing to take a stand and tell things as they are, not as they wish they might be. The common argument raised (as just one example) by the folks being taken in by the AGLOCO hype that ‘there’s no investment required, so it can’t be a scam’ show just how many totally gullible people are floating around out there. One’s time and one’s blog and screen ‘real estate’ are certainly worth something, and it’s certainly better to focus on productive things.

A good example of just how silly a lot of this business we act so serious about … my main blog is a rather obscure “geek” and opinion piece about the uses of GPS. The single biggest day, by far, I’ve ever had? When I wrote a tongue in cheek piece about people ’showing a little leg’, as in teasing to get readers and mentioned Katie Couric’s legs (and included a picture). Triple the readership in one easy lesson. Never underestimate the naivete’ or the prurience of the average reader.
But when it come to what companies you want to associate with and promote n your blog … it’s a lot like riding the Yamanote Line in rush hour, got for the end cars, they’re less crowded, and take care who’s rubbing up against you.
