Top 5 Countdown of Essential Sites - #4
This series of posts on Cash Quests count down the top 5 essential sites that new bloggers should visit in order to maximize their chances for making money online. Each site in the top 5 provides valuable lessons and techniques that need to be studied and considered in-depth in order to increase your earning potential.
#4 Dosh Dosh
How does a site that is only four months old come in ahead of Problogger? Dosh Dosh does what Problogger does not - provide easy-to-read, practical information for new and inexperienced bloggers on how to make money online.Dosh Dosh is run by Maki who is a Political Science and Philosophy student from Canada. Maki has a varied career and has worked as a freelance journalist as well as in various public relations and marketing firms. While he claims that he is horrible with programming and web design, his site is a great example of a thematic approach to “blog-branding”.
Why new bloggers should visit Dosh Dosh:
Dosh Dosh should definitely be the first port of call for anybody looking to make money online. Maki has done a fantastic amount of searching through the internet to find nearly every viable and profitable program that aims to make money online. Despite only being four months old, the site already contains a wealth of practical information about making money online and is on track to be the web’s number one money making resource.Maki manages to cover a vast variety of different programs on the site and covers them all in well-researched detail. Paid blogging, affiliate marketing, paid-to-surf programs and much more are all covered with honest and practical advice. Maki doesn’t provide any undue hype or criticism about the programs and reviews each program based on it’s real earning potential.
What makes Dosh Dosh a much better site than Problogger for new bloggers looking to make money online is the easy-to-read style of the articles and the fact that nearly all of the programs are open to the beginner blogger. None of the programs reviewed are “only open to those with PR5 and above” and all of them present opportunities to start making money online today.
However, it’s not all good news on the site. Maki also presents programs that new bloggers should be wary of and provides a critical eye on programs that appear to have limited earning potential.
For new bloggers, the info at Dosh Dosh is priceless.
Why Dosh Dosh isn’t number 1:
Dosh Dosh misses out on the number one spot due mainly to the fact that the site is only four months old and as such doesn’t have the information resources of other sites. Similarly, as the site is still growing, it hasn’t yet built a substantial “Dosh Dosh Community” yet. But somehow I feel this community will be very large once is gains momentum.
Dosh Dosh also lacks in that every new money making program is reviewed and discussed. Why do I see this as a negative? Well, some of the money making programs are extremely similar to one another and I feel this sometimes creates a feeling of repetition in the articles. Many of the programs are extremely homogeneous. I’m sure Maki realizes this given the recent title of one of his posts was, “Gangster Greed Review - Yet Another Get Paid to Complete Offers Website“.
Conversely, reviewing every program will undoubtedly make Dosh Dosh an unparalleled information resource in the future.
Lessons to learn from Dosh Dosh:
- Give your blog a unique look. Having a standard template is nice and easy, but you really need to modify it to stand out and make your site unique. Adding the Japanese animation pictures to each post makes Dosh Dosh’s site memorable.
- Keep your niche tight. Maki has done what many other bloggers (myself included) fail to do - keep every post tightly related to the topic of the site. Every post on Dosh Dosh is related to making you money online and every post is tightly written around this topic.
- Make your site easy to navigate. Dosh Dosh is one of the most “open” sites that I’ve come across. All of it’s sections are clearly displayed and easy to navigate. Apart from some advertising, every link on Dosh Dosh’s site is related to the page that you are on and provides you with easy to navigate ‘further reading’.
In conclusion:
It’s a tough task to beat Problogger on any list but Dosh Dosh does this by providing useful and relevant information to new and inexperienced bloggers. By sifting through Dosh Dosh’s archives you have a real potential to start making money online immediately.

Thanks for the kind words, Kumiko!
Someone should really buy a review from your blog. The writing and commentary is fantastic.
Perhaps you should consider putting up a link or ReviewMe badge on your sidebar.. I’m sure it’ll be well received.

Yes, you write some great posts! Great stuff, your blog is a bit special.
Hope you get that good PR you mentioned above, you deserve it - but I guess that’s not how it works - unfortunately!
Best wishes,
Mike.

Good to see someone breaking off the trend a bit and going after content quality instead of just popularity. Looking forward to the top 3 in the link.
I like ProBlogger and I like DoshDosh also. On DoshDosh, I really like the use of the small avatars/icons in each post. Anime images being used so effectively is nice.

I don’t think that a blog’s age determines its importance. Is the content in a blog is worthy, then the age of the blog is of no importance. I have subscribed myself to Dosh Dosh because he does what I myself have to look for. I think it must rank higher!
Great review though!

Hi, just stopping by.. wow.. DoshDosh even beat the Problogger @@”

I think its a pretty close call… Problogger does have great archives that every new blogger should read, but latly Darren has been doing too many posts that are just starting off discussions in my opinion.
DoshDosh has loads of applicable advice and has a good chance of overtaking problogger if Maki can keep up it (I know you will!).
